What is there to do around LAX airport?

Flying into LAX on Friday and getting a hotel a few blocks away. Flying out of LAX Saturday morning. Is there anything to do that is somewhat close by? Going to be with a couple friends and figured there might be a mall with movie theatres ect ect somewhat close. Any help would be appreciated.

About 2 miles north on Sepulveda (at Howard Hughes Pkwy) you will find a very nice shopping mall with restaurants, bars and a movie theater. It is too far to walk, but a cheap taxi fare to get there. Within walking distance you have a Carl's Jr and a strip club.

yes Howard hughes has a movie theater

(called Bridge)

Your best bet is to take a bus (since I'm presuming you won't have a car) to Santa Monica and spend the evening on the pier, enjoying some carnival games and rides, and you can explore the 3rd street promenade (I'm also presuming you haven't been to LA before). You'll have the beach just nearby and a lot of attractions, restaurants, etc.

The few attractions near LAX are driving distance away, such as the In-N-Out (which you must have if you're in LA) up Sepulveda and Dockweiler beach on the other side of LAX, where you can have a bonfire. Manhattan Beach and the South Bay (Hermosa, Redondo) are a couple miles south of the airport and are nice beach communities a little more suburban than Santa Monica, but they still have a vibrant nightlife.

Figure out bus schedules here: http://www.metro.net

Or you can always splurge on a taxi. You'll have to call ahead, because you can't usually just find a taxi on the street.

I found absolutely nothing. There's barely anything in the airport itself either. For such a big city, crappiest airport i've ever seen. Humberside is bigger!

Absolutely nothing. Absolutely crap airport with absolutely nothing nice around it. Was in your position once and tried to find something. If you must venture outside, try and organize an oxygen bottle. It has even worse pollution than the rest of LA. Best thing about LAX is the next plane out of there - to anywhere.

I work at LAX. Other than the one mentioned at Howard Hughes they is a multi screen theater at the Manhattan Village Mall which is about 3 miles south of LAX at Sepulveda bl and Rosecrans, plus the mall. You can take a taxi from your hotel or have the hotel take you back to the airport and you can take a shuttle, like Supershuttle. If you need more help, email me kingsleydr60@yahoo.com

There's the Movie complex at Howard Hughes Parkway and Sepulveda. Further north, there's Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica Place Mall, and the Third Street Promenade. If it was daytime, I would recommend Santa Monica Pier and Venice Beach, but Venice gets pretty scary after dark.

IN N OUT :)

Hollywood Park Race Track and Casino is close. In addition to cards, they have some clubs and bars inside the casino.
