Wow, that other guy gave you some good leads!
I use Priceline when I stay in the South Bay or near LAX and every time I've got a nice hotel -- and for less than I'd have paid for a Motel 6 (which is another good option. There's one very near LAX and next to the freeway, so Carson is just a few miles down the road.)
Twice I stayed at the Clarion, which was a perfectly fine motel style hotel. The last time I was there, it was being remodeled, so it should even be a better stay. It's right next to the freeway
so getting to LAX will be a breeze. It's also near a shopping center (you can walk it pretty easily), so finding food will be no sweat.
I've been using Priceline for years, and I usually bid around $50.00, sometimes a little higher during a busy time. I've never had a bad stay. Sometimes that $50 gets me into a luxury hotel -- which is REAL nice (but then I have to pay for parking, which is another $15.00).
Good luck.
