Most of the places you mentioned in your previous question are roughly 400 miles from LAX, except Las Vegas which is about 280.
As stated, most of the "Touristy" things in Southern California are within the 200 mile radius. For a specific item may I suggest Hearst Castle near San Simeon.
If you still plan to attempt your original itinerary, I would suggest from LAX going to Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, Death Valley, Yosemite Park, San Francisco, and back to LAX via Highway 1 / 101, (the coast route), or do it in reverse order. This would be a great big circular trip.
My vote goes to the beautiful city of San Diego. There are lots to do there. The San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, Sea World, Legoland, harbor cruises and sandy beaches, Old Town San Diego, San Diego Aerospace Museum, World War II mothball fleet, San Diego Padres and Chargers, Mission Bay, Del Mar Racetrack and nearby Tijuana, Mexico, to name a few.

Most things that people want to see are within 200 miles of the airport; every major attraction.
Can you tell me what you like to do? Because there is something for everybody.
