How to reach Channel Island From LA(LAX)airport?

Hi my husband and I are travelling to Los Angeles for the first time.I jus saw about Channel Island on Natgeo channel. We would like to visit the place. How do we reach the island from LA airport??PLease clearly list out the travel details ,the amount of time it will take? and cost.

Thanks in advance.

First of all, it's the Channel ISLANDS. There are a number of them, including San Miguel, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, and Anacapa Islands. Also, you have Catalina Island, which is about 80 miles south of the others, and is the closest to LA.

For Catalina, you can take Catalina Express from San Pedro or Long Beach. Check out www.catalinaexpress.com. You would need to rent a car to get from LAX to San Pedro, about 25 miles. It's about an hour to get out there.

For the other channel islands, you should contact Island Packers, that operate tours and ferries out of Ventura and Oxnard. Check them out at www.islandpackers.com. The details are to exhaustive to list here, since there are too many options to list here. Either way, you will need to rent a car to get the 80 miles north to Ventura or Oxnard.

Sorry I did Not see that show so I don't know which island you are talking about....the northern ones base out of say Oxnard.

But an ez way to get to Catalina is to take the shuttle out of marina Del Ray which is right next to LAX...

Sorry need more info. re your trip....

listen to obvi. Catalina is one of the channel islands. The cost depends on where you want to stay and the cost for transport to the islands.

Check Santa Barbra Airbus which operates service between LAX and Oxnard. From there Gold Coast Transit serves Chanel Island.
