Closest live theater or opera house to LAX airport?

I am in town for one night and staying at a hotel near the airport, I'd like to catch a show before heading overseas. Any idea which theater is within a short taxi ride from the airport?

There aren't any around the airport.

You can take the Flyaway Shuttle from the airport to Union Station. From Union Station, the red line subway will take you to all the major theaters, including the Pantages, the Music Center Dorothy Chandler, Walt Disney Concert Hall, etc.

Sadly, the only thing around the airport are hotels, fast food joints, and strip clubs. I imagine that that isn't what you had in mind.

The Santa Monica Playhouse is the closest theater I'm aware of that's of any consequence. However, if you are in town, you might as well see "Wicked" at the Pantages Theater in Hollywood.

Go see Wicked at the Pantages. You can catch the Metrorail and there is a station right across the street from the Pantages.
