Can i go out from lax airport if i only have a connecting flights there?

i have a student visa only and my destination is wichita kansas, is it possible for me to go out fr the lax airport and meet my friends there?

Depends on the length of your lay over. Be careful, you could miss your connecting flight because once you leave the boarding area, you have to go through security again. Good luck.

probably. If it is your first port of entry in the US then you must go through customs and immigration (including collecting your checked baggage) before you can make your connecting flight.

Either have your friends meet you in the airport, or if you have a really long layover and you are pretty confident in the on-time arrival record for your flight, then check your bags for your next leg and meet your friends at a place fairly close to the airport and hangout (hotel lounge normally OK near airports).

Make sure you have your boarding pass when you get back to the airport!!!!

Risky. How many hours do you have? That's vital info. And what time of day? That's vital info. Nothing really great close to LAX. If you are meeting friends then have them pick you up and drop you off to be sure the meeting happens. Taking a taxi only to find out they flaked would be bad for you.

And stay west of the 405 freeway if this is during rush hour. Now rush hour on the 405 near LAX is from about 5:30 AM to about 8:00 PM - get my drift. Besides there is plenty. North you can take Lincoln Blvd towards Venice Beach area. South you have a little town El Segundo and then the rest of the South Bay. West you have Playa Del Rey. Each will have places to hang out.

You're friends will not get past the checkpoint to meet you so that is not an option. Besides LAX checkpoints can be hellish.

You didn't say if you were going to go to Wichita first (do they have an airport there???) but maybe you should fly into O'hare or whatever the closest international airport is to go through customs, then fly to LA from there. Once you are in the country I think u r cool. Besides, LAX customs SUX!!

Visitors are not allowed past a certain point in LAX... you have to have a ticket to get in.
